Groundwork

Nothing awakens your mind and palate more than a new seasonal coffee being offered at our shop. Groundwork was created to spotlight new beans that we have purchased in small batches and roasted for the very first time. It’s a journey that we get to experience and we want you to come along with us.

How to locate Groundwork

When you enter our flagship shop in Pentagon City, you will see that unmistakable white label boldly reading “Groundwork” at our pour over station. Once Groundwork is ordered, we begin our well-thought out preparation to give you the smoothest and freshest cup of hot coffee. Step over to our pour over bar and watch the entire experience while talking with our friendly enthusiastic team about the pour over process. We can almost guarantee you will want to take the beans home with you after taking the first sip of Groundwork.  Now you can. Our shelves feature 12 ounce bags of the Groundwork brand for you to pick up and enjoy. Just locate the white label, but remember that each rotation of Groundwork is only showcased for a limited time. So hurry in to grab a cup and a bag of beans before it runs out!

We couldn’t think of a better coffee to feature than a bean originating from the Finca La Vega farm. Some of you may have a déjà vu moment from reading that name. Finca La Vega is the same farm that we get our cáscara from. After meeting our friend Yolima at a local coffee cupping, we learned she started Paisa Coffee LLC to help her parents share their amazing coffee with a wider market. One of our very own team members went to Columbia in 2016 to meet with her family and to speak with them about their farm. There was no question that we needed to  showcase their beans due to their sharp eye for freshness and commitment to excellence.

We are proud to introduce this coffee from Yolima and her family. Located in the region of Antioquia, Colombia, their coffee is grown with high elevation and nutritious soil. This perfected combination creates sweet, balanced, and complex flavor notes that resound not only in our Cáscara Fizz, but also our Groundwork. When you taste this smooth medium roast you will taste a trio of milk chocolate, maple sugar, and dried cherries. Both our pour over of Groundwork and our handcrafted Cáscara Fizz are the perfect start or end to your day. Stop on by our Pentagon City store to try this limited offering and to let us know what you think!
